Sensorforschung für die Industrie
Der Name Ursula E. Spichiger-Keller ist eng mit dem Zentrum für Chemische Sensoren und Chemische Informationstechnologie (CCS) im Technopark Zürich verknüpft. Sie hat das Institut 1994 etabliert und seither erfolgreich weitgehend unabhängig von der «Mutter» ETH geführt. Ende Juni wird das Zentrum geschlossen. Der Grund: Spichiger geht in Pension. Im 2001 zusammen mit privaten Investoren gegründeten Spin-off C-CIT in Wädenswil wird sie ihr Know-how aber weiterhin einbringen können. C-CIT bietet bereits ausgereifte Produkte mit Sensortechnik an.

Qualitätssicherung in Lebensmitteln mit chemischen Sensoren
Früchte,Gemüse oder andere Rohstoffe für die Lebensmittel verarbeitende Industrie sind in deren Zusammensetzung von den konkreten Wachstumsbedingungen abhängig. Die Industrie muss jedoch immer eine gleich bleibende sensorische Qualität gewähr-leisten können. Damit die Schwankungen bei den Rohstoffen ausgeglichen werden können, müssen vor, während und nach der Produktion Analysen gemacht werden. Da für die sensorische Beurteilung Summenparameter wie beispielsweise die Süss- oder Salzigkeit relevant sind, können Degustationen nicht ohne weiteres durch Einzelparameter messende chemische Analysen ersetzt werden.

SENSORIK Auf dem Prinzip der molekularen Erkennung entwickelt das Zentrum für Chemische Sensoren und Chemische Informationstechnik (CCS) der ETH Zürich hochselektive Messfühler für Gase und Flüssigkeiten. Die beiden Spin-offs, Sensorix und C-CIT, machen aus Ideen Prototypen und Produkte.
